Stacey Perlin is a mid-level
professional who - after taking a year and a half to live and work in London, United Kingdom - has decided to change her career path.
She has been involved with Calgary, Alberta’s film and television industry for 10 years and is excited to put her
experience and enthusiasm to work in the PR and Business Communications industry.
In
your current or last position, what are or were your most significant
accomplishments?
While working in London, UK – I helped employees develop a sense of ownership of their office and
their successes.
While working in Calgary, AB – I’ve networked local film/tv professionals with international
professionals in an international forum. I’ve
also been able to promote and support local film and video festivals which in
turn promote and support Calgary
film/tv professionals.
How
have you changed the nature of your job?
As a production coordinator, I’ve
been able to change the mentality of the production office to one that reflects
my passion for community and shared ownership of any project.
If
I spoke with your previous boss, what would he say are your greatest strengths
and weaknesses?
I am open to feedback in any
position and always modify my working habits to promote growth and learning in
the workplace. In my most recent
position, I was complimented on my respectful and compassionate attitude to my
team. I was also alerted to my
over-eagerness, which I’ve since taken steps to reduce.
Can
you work under pressures, deadlines, etc.?
In the film and television industry,
I’ve worked consistently under pressure and within deadlines.
How
would you describe your own personality?
I would describe myself as a
passionate, community-minded professional who values respect and creativity in
the workplace. Hard-working, enthusiastic,
and dedicated would also be appropriate as I love to come to work ready to
contribute to the organization.
What
are your future goals?
My future goals are a mix of work
and travel. Professionally, I would love
to continue to work in Media and Communications – possibly as a Media
Coordinator. I have a great commitment
to film and television and so would like to continue to involve those mediums
in my career. I spend a lot of my spare
time travelling the world so a position in an international company would be a
great way to combine those two dreams.
How
would you describe the essence of success? According to your definition of
success, how successful have you been so far?
The essence of success, to me, is
a life full of vitality and satisfaction.
When you can look at both your job and your personal life and be excited
about what you’re putting together, be open to learning and new experiences,
and be recognized for your efforts – that is success.
Thus far, I’d say I’ve been
pretty successful. I’m in the midst of
big change so my perceptions of what efforts should be validated are being
adjusted every day.
Why
have you put together this website? What do you expect it to achieve?
I put together this website
together to put a professional public face out there – as opposed to using facebook,
twitter, and other socializing sites. I
have invested in facebook, and it has proven itself as a tool for networking –
especially in my personal life.
When introducing myself it has been beneficial to have this website as a showcase
that displays my talents in an environment that reflects my sense of community,
professionalism, and creative talents.
